了解 Consilio 專家的一天。
Day in the life of Jesse Zwerling, Manager, Software Development
Which department do you sit in, and where are you based?
I work in Product Development, based in Monrovia, CA. I’ve been working with Consilio for almost 13 years and have also worked in our offices in Pasadena and Los Angeles.
So, what is a typical day like for you?
The great thing about working at Consilio is that there are no typical days! But I usually start by having a daily stand up meeting with my team. This is where everyone comes together to discuss the progress of different tasks. After this I have additional meetings to discuss current issues and objectives of various projects across the business.
I have a global and remote working team, so throughout the day I’m usually taking calls with people all over the world and catching up with those in different time-zones.
What skills do you need to excel in your department?
To be a software developer, you need to be a good coder. Alongside that, having problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and communication skills are key. You need to be able to work effectively with colleagues on cross-functional teams and with people who aren’t expert software developers. It’s vital that you’re able to talk through a project easily and in a way that can be easily understood by anyone regardless of departments.
What is the most interesting part of your role at Consilio?
Working at Consilio means I get to work with, and learn from, some of the smartest people in the industry as well as the chance to develop my skills using cutting edge tools and technology.
Consilio also has a great culture where as employees we can help support local communities and charities. In the past our office has been involved with things like book and food drives.
What is the most challenging part of your role at Consilio?
The remote nature of my team is the main challenge – my team works across the globe in Santa Clarita, Nebraska, and England as well as team members in Bangalore, India so we’re all in different offices and time-zones.
What has been your greatest accomplishment thus far?
I’m proud to have worked on so many innovative projects at Consilio. Almost six years ago I helped to build our Bloomberg Chat Visualizer, which is a huge innovation for the finance community and has been patented by Consilio. More recently, a great accomplishment has been the Consilio Analytics tool, a new eDiscovery data analytics tool.
span style=”color: #ffffff;”>It’s really exciting to be able to work on tools that are new to the market that no one else can offer and it’s great to be a part of company on the bleeding edge of eDiscovery tech.
What advice would you offer a candidate applying for a role at Consilio?
From the perspective of a software developer, you need to learn the business domain. Programming skills are necessary, but learning about eDiscovery, document review and governance will help you to understand how your work is contributing to the company’s wider success and why certain decisions are made. It can also give you a shared language when talking with colleagues in other departments.
What are your favorite True North values?
I have two – the first is collaboration – software development is a team sport. The second is vision, because in our department we have to work to stay on top of the current tech trends, like machine learning, and figure out how they can be applied to the challenges of eDiscovery.
Day in the life of Brenda Engler, Administration Manager
Which department do you sit in and where are you based?
I work in the Administration Department and have been working for Consilio for seven years, based out of our office in Valencia, California.
So, what is a typical day like for you?
There’s no such thing as a typical day in my department. Lots of things get thrown in, making every day different. I am responsible for managing the administration team to keep the office running smoothly day-in-day-out. Work ranges from organizing special accommodation requests to helping set up new offices.
The nature of my role means that I work with many other areas of the business. I am always monitoring to see what processes can be revamped as well as looking for ways to make workflows as efficient as possible across the company.
What skills do you need to excel in your department?
It goes without saying but strong organization skills are essential for what I do. To ensure Consilio maintains its high standards, the administration side must run like clockwork by making sure everything is in the right place at the right time. This also requires having excellent time-management skills and the ability to multi-task.
Working with other departments means that I am always busy working with employees from all over. As a result, the capacity to communicate effectively is essential – not only does this ensure processes run smoother, but it builds collaborative relationships across departments.
What is the most interesting part of your role at Consilio?
I love the diversity of the work. I value being able to help such a range of departments with so many different tasks. No two days are ever the same and working with the Consilio family from offices across the Americas and beyond never fails to motivate me.
What is the most challenging part of your role at Consilio?
The nature of my role requires me to understand the key differences between each office, as well as keeping up to date with new processes and procedures. While this can be a little challenging at times, it’s something I find really rewarding.
What is your biggest highlight whilst working at Consilio?
Striving for excellence through collaboration is present in every task we undertake and makes everything we do a highlight. I pride myself on always working collaboratively to deliver the best products possible. It’s what I strive towards and it’s even more motivating being surrounded by so many likeminded people at Consilio.
What advice would you offer a candidate applying for a role at Consilio?
The key is that everyone here works hard and is passionate about what they do. For a prospective candidate, I’d simply advise them to work as hard as you can to get to where you want to go and who you want to be. Consilio rewards those who challenge and push themselves. It may be exhausting, but it’ll open up great opportunities for you.
What are your favorite True North values?
For me, it’s a combination of two: Collaboration and Excellence. Ultimately, we want to provide a superior product, and both play key roles in ensuring this. I find that whether working internally or externally, creating and maintaining a positive working environment naturally leads to delivering excellence.
Day in the life of Danielle Brooks, Director, Global Learning
Which department do you sit in, and where are you based?
I work for Global Learning, which sits inside of our Human Resources Department, and will have been working at Consilio for 4 years this July. I’m based in Atlanta, Georgia, but I spend most of my time traveling between offices or working from home. The opportunity to work across the globe for Consilio gives me a unique perspective of the business, while I also value the ability to work flexibly when I’m back home.
So, what is a typical day like for you?
Every day is so varied. Most days are packed with meetings where I might be collaborating with Consilio’s HR leaders building new initiatives to train our staff. Whereas some days are quieter, allowing me to spend time updating training materials while working on turning our discussions into actions.
Of course, this is a snapshot – what I love about my work is that no day is truly ever the same. It’s exciting and I’m lucky to work with some great people.
What skills do you need to excel in your department?
First and foremost, the ability to communicate clearly with people at all levels of the organization is essential. But it goes further than this – at Consilio it’s vital that everyone is willing to collaborate. As one of our True North values, it’s central to how we operate. Ultimately, the ability to listen to and incorporate the ideas people are bringing to the table enables us to deliver a great product that everyone can be proud of.
As a Director, strong project management skills are essential, especially when you encounter challenges. It’s also important to have strong technical skills; a simple understanding of complex processes will ensure great final results.
What do you think is the most interesting part of your role?
For me, the most interesting part is being able to view the organization on a holistic level. My position enables me to view all the composite parts and then design programs to support the people who are delivering our products and services to our clients.
What is the most challenging part of your role at Consilio?
In an organization of such size and scope, I’m always looking for ways to shape the business with my ideas to make it the best it can be. Therefore, I think my greatest challenge is pacing myself and working strategically to move the needle towards my vision of Global Learning at Consilio.
I’ve been able to overcome this challenge by strategically mapping out what I want to achieve and working towards the small wins that add to my greater goals.
What’s your biggest highlight?
The people. Everyone here works to high standards and there is an amazing diversity of talent across all our functional groups. I’m lucky enough to be able to work with many different people across the business. Whether I’m working with a lawyer or an engineer, they are always great professionals.
What advice would you offer a candidate applying for a role at Consilio?
I would say come prepared to work hard. Delivering excellent service allows you to grow professionally and Consilio has so much to offer people at all stages of their career.
For people applying from outside the eDiscovery industry, my first piece of advice would be to do your research. If you understand the nature of the roles, you will be better able to see if you have the transferable skills that fit.
What are your favourite True North values?
That’s difficult because each one of our True North values reflects how I interact with clients every day. My clients are my colleagues because my role is internal facing so with that in mind, if I had to prioritize my values I would start with vision because without it you really have no direction.
At the end of the day, all of our values are embedded into our daily work. It makes me proud to be able to say that truthfully!
Day in the life of Barry Wong, Regional Director.
Which department do you sit in, and where are you based?
I work in the Strategic Client Solutions Team which sits within the Global Revenue Organization. I have been working for Consilio for seven years and am based in our Hong Kong office.
So, what is a typical day like for you?
My days are particularly varied because I am in a relatively small office compared to the wider organization. The main focus of my role is managing strategic accounts in the region. Most of our clients are international banks and multi-national Corporates so dealing with them is my main priority. On top of this I also have managerial responsibilities including coordinating with the finance office in Washington as well as looking after HR and administrative duties and working on sales and marketing projects.
What skills do you need to excel in your department?
I believe having good people skills both internally with other employees and also with clients is incredibly important. Making a good and lasting impression and building good solid relationships is crucial to our business success.
Specific to my department in Hong Kong is being able to multitask efficiently. We work with colleagues in different time zones so it’s important that we’re flexible in our working style to accommodate this.
What is the most interesting part of your role at Consilio?
The different and diverse individuals that I get to work with, both externally and internally, are amongst the most interesting aspect of my role and I am privileged that I get to work with lots of different departments and across several countries.
I’m also lucky that I get to work so closely with our clients and become an extension of their team. If there are any opportunities or particular challenges, I work with the relevant departments and teams to tailor products and solutions to suit our client’s specific needs.
What is the most challenging part of your role at Consilio?
Time management can be a challenge – as we provide global services andour clients are multi-national in nature, we don’t necessarily have any formal working hours so it’s a case of being flexible in order to accommodate everyone across the global reach.
Time management is made slightly more complicated for me because my job can be varied. One day I am doing a sales proposal, followed by client project meetings and then I am working closely with the North American offices on certain initiatives or projects. But all these varied elements are what makes my role so rewarding and enjoyable. It is a joy to work with great teams of talented, bright and dedicated individuals that make up the Consilio Family.
What has been your greatest accomplishment whilst working at Consilio?
I was one of the first employees here in Hong Kong and we started the office from scratch. Helping to build up the client portfolio and pipeline in Asia has been a huge achievement and a real privilege to be a part of such growth in the region. There is still plenty of work to do, but the teams in Asia and globally are looking forward to our continuous growth and success.

Dedication and Flexibility.. You are likely to have a varied role at Consilio and so adapting to that style of work is crucial.
